Safety bulletin – Ergonomic Issues of DP Vessel Controls

A semisubmersible DP drilling rig lost control of position for several minutes.  During this time it was obliged to shear the drill pipe and disengage the lower marine riser package, LMRP. Operators of dynamically positioned vessels and offshore installations should review the ergonomic aspects of their control system.

It provides guidance to those who own, operate or work on offshore installations and looks at how to prevent fires and explosions as well as how to protect people should they occur.

L123 – Health care and first aid on offshore installations and pipeline works: Approved Code of Practice and guidance (Third edition)

This Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and associated guidance provides practical advice on how you can comply with the requirements of the regulations. The ACOP covers the provision of adequate first aid and basic health care for all personnel, including visitors, who are injured or become ill while on offshore installations.

MS38 – Offshore first-aid qualifications: A guide for training organisations approved under the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (First-Aid) Regulations 1989

This guidance explains how to gain and maintain approval to run offshore first-aid (OFA) courses and will help new and existing training providers develop and maintain appropriate standards of OFA training. The guidance has been revised to reflect changes to the ACOP.
